Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounts Payable-North America, we are currently seeking a temporary Accounts Payable Supervisor to support our day-to-day operations. In this role, you will oversee an Accounts Payable Clerk, through day-to-day operations, and supporting the procure to pay function and activities of accounts payable for vendors, travel and business expense activities, and master vendor data. You will be responsible for the payables module as well as overseeing full cycle accounts payable function.

 

Contract Duration: 1-3 months with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Interviews prospective employees and chooses the best applicant based on skills, knowledge, and abilities required for the job.
  • Trains and oversees employees involved in payment functions.
  • Directs assigned tasks and provides assistance as needed.
  • Assists with performance evaluations. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day operations of the accounts payable process including maintaining vendor files, routing invoices for approval, reviewing and coding.
  • Oversees reports regarding cash flow; ensures correct payments are made in a timely manner.
  • Approving vendor bills for accuracy in our financial system.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely completion of AP month-end and year-end close processes, with reporting and internal audits.
  • Verifies payments before cheques are cut by validating AP vouchers against AP reports.
  • Process payments via cheque or electronic payment (Online payment, EFT, ACH, WIRE, Bill Pay).
  • Ensures proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records in case of audits.
  • Managing all aspects of the American Express/Mastercard Corporate Card Program.
  • Sets up and confirms new vendors provide appropriate GST/HST/QST numbers for tax reporting.
  • Maintain regular communication with key departments.
  • Lead or participate in special projects to enhance AP technology or to resolve issues raised by other departments and work cross functionally with business systems and the finance team.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in an AP or accounting function; preferably with three years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in NetSuite accounting software, UI Path and Microsoft Office Suite, or related software.
  • Thorough understanding of full cycle accounts payable functions.
  • Excellent supervisory and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to motivate staff.
  • Intermediate Excel
