Working under minimal supervision, this position will leverage your interpersonal and technical skillsets along with your regional market expertise across product types to build and foster client relationships, drive public brand awareness through timely data-driven market insights and utilize both of those skillsets to work alongside our transaction partner to grow client relationships, building client relationships and focus on business development opportunities.


Your adoption of proprietary Avison Young technologies will be essential for this and allow you to seamlessly navigate unprecedented real estate and real estate-adjacent market conditions by sharing insights leveraging the powerful intersection of data, analytics, visualization and automation. This approach will allow Avison Young’s external clients to become more productive and push our internal stakeholders to become more efficient, with both becoming more successful in their common ventures


  • Responsible for ensuring Avison Young has a clear, data-based, analytically informed view of current trends and future outlook for all relevant real estate markets and sectors within the region; this view must be informed by wider trends at national and global levels, be updated on a timely basis, and communicated clearly and effectively to key stakeholders
  • Develop “subject matter expertise” on relevant segments of the regional real estate market, acting as a key AY spokesperson for clients and the media on real estate and related trends and market activity within the region
  • Authoring highly regular data-driven Insight utilizing digital tools in partnership with Innovation & Insights leadership alongside Marketing and Market leadership that can influence clients’ decision-making processes and promote the Avison Young brand
  • Engaging our occupier and investor clients and prospects to guide them through market conditions by leveraging our proprietary digital data analytics tools that help to shape and solve their real estate strategies more dynamically and seamlessly
  • Develop client relationships alongside and sometimes not alongside our business to drive differentiation of the AY brand and its focus on data, analytics, insight and technology
  • Working with National and Global I&I Leadership plus regional AY Management and stakeholders to develop a prioritized business plan for the Regional Team
  • Interaction with key stakeholders (particularly local AY Managing Directors, business line leaders and senior professionals) to understand local business needs, gather and incorporate feedback on product and service development, and maximize the Regional Team’s contribution to Avison Young’s business across the region
  • Development of a strategic resource plan for the region, identifying current or future personnel or other resource needs and liaison with national I&I management to agree how best to meet these needs
  • Day to day management of the workload, tasks and responsibilities of the Regional Team, including delegation to junior management members of the team as appropriate
  • Proactively identifying new clients and through that effort provide strategic guidance to Regional leadership on how best to approach, engage and pursue those opportunities
  • Partner with our National Insight Lead, Canada, on thought leadership initiatives providing regional commentary and support
  • Partnership with our Data Team with the Global Practice Lead, Data, who will collectively partner with you to collect and analyze economic, demographic and occupier and investment real estate data affecting the office, industrial, healthcare, data center, residential and retail sectors
  • Leading or participating in select press, public relations and real estate industry engagements, including interviews, panel discussions, press releases and presentations;
  • Partner with and provide input to the Innovation & Insight teams to build and evolve our platform
  • Identifies and communicates possible improvements in the work process for customers and peers
  • Pursuing a program of continued self-development through the use of selected reading, seminars and participation in continuing education
  • Performing other ad hoc duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree preferred in a real estate, finance, economics, business, urban development, or related field
  • 5+ years of commercial real estate or consulting experience preferred, but other relevant professional experience considered
  • 1-2 years managing people
  • Proven ability to present using different digital mediums to large audiences including clients
  • Proven ability to create strategic plans addressing business needs for a specific market
  • Proven ability to both develop and be integral in partnering to develop new client and business relationships
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; able to engage and communicate with clients and produce complex deliverables under tight deadlines in partnership with an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent strategic pitching and problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated and energetic individual with the ability to be self-directed and work with minimal supervision
  • Adaptable to thrive in a fast-paced and quickly changing workplace and market environment, with various and evolving client and work priorities.
